I won't deny that large fleet battles are having serious issues at the moment, and have been having issues for the last few months. However that simply does not affect the vast majority of EVE players,
I just wanted to pick out this point as worthy of comment.
It affects more EVE players than you seem to think. It deeply affects players who have never left hi-sec and never intend to do so. Inventors, miners, industrialists, haulers, traders, mission runners - all these people are negatively affected by the near-total stagnation of 0.0. Day 1 players are affected by it. Pirates in lo-sec are affected by it. In fact it's difficult to think of a profession in EVE that isn't affected.
I cannot disagree with your comment Malcanis. However, I would like to point out that despite this "near-total stagnation of 0.0" you claim, I see:
Maps with significant ship/pod kills in 0.0 several times a week. Cynosural activity in 0.0 all the time. Sovereignty changes weekly. I see TQ with tens of thousands of players online and somehow I doubt everyone is ship-spinning in station or circle-jerking in Jita. I read of Alliances maneuvering for advantage and running strategic ops against one another all the time on CAOD. Schlong wagging about KBs, ratios, and 'fail-fits' constantly. More active EVE-Pirate blogging than the 'Birthers' and 'Tea-Partiers" combined (kidding on this point).
I do agree that the large alliance fleet wars have issues but hardly to the point that PvP is a dead horse rotting, and people stopped kicking it 3 years ago. There is fixing to be done I don't doubt that but EVE is far from dead.
On a more uplifting note, thank you CCP Zulu for offering the information that you have. It provides a measure of appropriation regarding where CCP's focus is and will be for the near future. Information like this is like soul-food and puts things into perspective. I think many EVE players will appreciate this communication.
It's awesome to see as much effort going into Incarna (admittedly the reason I came back to EVE). And yes, I still want to fly my ships through the cluster and pew-pew.
